NO EXCUSE — Men Must Be Allies in Ending GBV

Ending GBV is not a “women’s issue.” Men must use their influence to create safer communities.

1. SPEAK OUT AGAINST VIOLENCE

Men must challenge harmful jokes, comments, and behaviors among other men.

2. MODEL HEALTHY MASCULINITY

Show that strength includes respect, empathy, and emotional intelligence.

3. HOLD OTHER MEN ACCOUNTABLE

Silence protects abusers. Encourage intervention when violence or harassment is witnessed.

4. SUPPORT SURVIVORS WITHOUT JUDGMENT

Believe women. Stand with them. Do not minimize their experiences.

5. SHARE HOUSEHOLD & CARE WORK

Equality at home reduces stress, improves relationships, and breaks gender norms.

6. RAISE BOYS TO RESPECT GIRLS

Teach boys consent, boundaries, compassion, and responsibility from an early age.

BOTTOM LINE:
Men have power to stop violence — and there is NO EXCUSE for staying silent.
